Xu, Zhe

Zhe Xu received his Ph.D. degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2016 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His outstanding achievements have been passed on from generation to generation in our group.

Dissertation title: Macroscopic Fundamental Diagram Estimation Based on Connected Vehicle Data

Wan, Xia

Xia Wan received her Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016. She is currently a technical lead of the data warehouse team at Globalfoundires- world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers.

Dissertation title: Modeling Freeway Merging as a Sequential Decision-Making Process

Chen, Xiaoxuan

Xiaoxuan Chen received his Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017. Currently, he is a staff scientist at Nauto.ai, focusing on driving safety and autonomy.

Dissertation title: Data-Driven Based Online System for Dynamic People Flow Prediction in Large Network Using Cellular Data

Ding, Fan

Fan Ding received the Ph. D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2017, and the M.S. degree in Computer Science in 2016 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently an assistant professor at the School of Transportation, Southeast University, China. His main research interests include traffic big data analysis, learning-based traffic modeling, and proactive traffic control.

Li, Qing

Qing Li received the Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2017, and the M.S. degrees in Computer Science in 2016 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently an engineer leader at TikTok (Bytedance) Inc, and previously worked at Facebook and BMW Technology Corporation with 7 patents in connected driving areas.

Li, Shen

Shen Li received a Ph.D. degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2018. He is a research associate at Tsinghua University. His research is about Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Architecture Design of CAVH System, Vehicle-infrastructure Cooperative Planning and Decision Method, Traffic Data Mining based on Cellular Data, and Traffic Operations and Management.

Zhou, Yang

Yang Zhou received the Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019, and the M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2015. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in civil engineering, UW-Madison. His main research directions are connected automated vehicles robust control, interconnected system stability analysis, traffic big data analysis, and microscopic traffic flow modeling.

Zhang, Zhen

Zhen Zhang received Ph.D. degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2019 and M.S. degree in Computer Science in 2015 from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently working as Research Scientist at Meta Platforms, Inc.

Li, Xiaotian

Xiaotian Li received his Ph.D. degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2021. He is currently a Researcher at SenseAuto.

Dong, Shuoxuan

Shuoxuan Dong received his Ph.D. degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2021 and M.S. degree in Computer Science in 2019 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently working as Research Scientist at Meta Platforms, Inc.

Chen, Tianyi

Tianyi Chen received his Ph.D. degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2021. He is currently a Postdoc Research Associate at UW-Madison. His research interests include distributed control of the connected automated vehicle, macroscopic traffic state estimation, architecture design for automated driving system.

Lin, Chun-wei

Chun-Wei Lin joined the CAVH group in Spring 2020. He received his Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in Fall 2021.

Shi, Kunsong

Kunsong Shi joined the CAVH group in Fall 2017. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Wisconsin Madison. His main research directions are connected and automated vehicle highway, data-driven lane change prediction, data-driven vehicle trajectory prediction, deep reinforcement learning vehicle control, and deep learning.

Shi, Haotian

Haotian Shi received his Ph.D. degree in Civil & Environemntal Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2023. He is currently a Research Associate at UW-Madison. He received three M.S. degrees in Power and Machinery Engineering (Tianjin University, 2020), Civil and Environmental Engineering (UW-Madison, 2020), and Computer Science (UW-Madison, 2022).

Yao, Yifan

Yifan Yao joined the CAVH group in 2019 Fall. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at, University of Wisconsin Madison. Her main research directions are connected automated vehicles highway, cooperative connected automated vehicles planning, and crash data analysis.

Wu, Keshu

Keshu Wu joined the CAVH group in Fall 2019. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received an M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2018 and an M.S. degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2022. His main research directions include the application and innovation of machine learning and deep learning techniques in intelligent transportation systems and connected automated vehicles highway.

Ran Yi joined the CAVH group in 2018 Spring. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Wisconsin Madison. His main research directions are connected automated vehicles control and intelligent transportation system operation.

Nutvara Jantarathaneewat (Goo) received her Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019. She is currently working at the Department of Rural Roads of Thailand.

Khoobaramee, Suravich

Suravich Khoobaramee (Mick) joined the CAVH group in 2021 Fall. He received his Master’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2022 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to grad school, he was a civil engineer at consultant firms. Working on highway projects in Thailand.

Kocmoud, Stephen

Stephen Kocmoud joined the CAVH group in the Fall of 2021. He received his Master’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2022 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He currently works for the Federal Aviation Administration and is interested in how Airlines can partner with carbon neutral modes of transportation, such as autonomous electric vehicles, for better sustainability, connectivity, and safety.

Kexin Tian joined the CAVH group in the Fall 2022. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She is interested in the application of deep reinforcement learning in connected automated vehicles highway.
